Robert (“Bob”) Hamlin is a Principal, Portage Ventures at Portage and joined the firm in 2019. He invests in early-stage and growth-stage financial technology projects globally. He is responsible for all aspects of the investment process, including origination, due diligence, execution and portfolio management. Within the investment portfolio, Bob is a board observer for Borrowell, Choosing Therapy, Fondeadora, Hellas Direct and Retirable. He is based in Washington, D.C. and New York, United States.
Prior to joining Portage, Bob was an Associate in the Global Fintech Investment Group of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the investment arm of the World Bank. Prior to joining the International Finance Corporation, he worked as an investment banker for Marlin & Associates, an investment bank specializing in the fintech sector. He began his career in the banking services division of Goldman Sachs.
Bob holds a B.A. in Social Studies from Harvard College and an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He serves on the Advisory Board of The Resolution Project, a New York-based non-profit that funds and mentors young people pursuing social impact ventures in 80 countries.
