Stephanie Choo is a General Partner & Co-Head at Portage Ventures and joined the firm in 2016.
Steph runs the Portage Ventures investment team in North America. She is passionate about partnering with the next generation of fintech entrepreneurs globally and spends most of her time in consumer fintech, embedded infrastructure, payments, and crypto.
Prior to Portage, she led a team that built and launched a leading digital advice platform in Canada which now serves more than two million customers. Earlier in her career she worked at Boston Consulting Group, where she advised several large financial services incumbents on their journeys to modernity. Her path to fintech started at a mobile payments startup, which was a lot of fun, but didn't work.
In her free time, you can find her at a music venue, trying to find the best Malaysian food in the city, or sitting at a cocktail bar. She also happens to love après ski—and you should find her if you do too.
Stephanie is based in NYC, but is a proud first-generation Canadian. She holds a B.Comm from Queen's University.
